Training
Training will take place at the Bangalow Sports Fields.
Training days are determined by the Club to ensure there is enough space for all teams to train and to maintain the condition of the grounds. Whilst we recommend that trainings take place as per the below schedule we understand that this may not work for all teams. Changes to training times or days can be requested via WhatsApp once the teams and coaches are allocated.
Players must wear soccer boots and shin pads during training. Junior and Mini Roos players will be issued with a training shirt.
Training format is recommended as follows for all junior teams (age 5-11)
- 5min warm up
- 10min skill development – cones, passing etc
- 10min focus – one focused play practice
- Drink break
- 15min practice game – example 3 on 3 within a team or mini game against another team training

Coaching
We welcome all parents, carers or community members who wish to contribute to the success of the club by volunteering to become a coach.
Each team will benefit from any additional assistance to ensure there is always someone available for training and games.
We recommend Junior Teams have at least 2 nominated ‘coaches’ even if one is only available for either training or games.
If you are interested in coaching, please visit our contact page.
It is a requirement for all coaches and officials to complete a Volunteer Working With Children Check. This is a quick and free process that can be done online through Service NSW.
You can find Coaching Resources on the Northern NSW Football website.
Coaching course and training
Bangalow Soccer Club is committed to supporting our coaches to ensure all teams are provided a base standard of coaching.
Our commitment to this is demonstrated by covering the cost of the Foundations of Football Course run by Northern NSW Football for those coaches interested in completing the course.
Junior SAP Program
SAP is an additional tier of coaching and competition for players aged 8-11.
Players are able to attend ‘trials’ where teams will be selected.
Training for SAP teams will be held twice a week with potential additional skills sessions added throughout the season.
The SAP program is a great step for young players wanting to build their skills and focus on building a foundation of team play.
SAP trials are taking place on Feb 10th and 17th. Training will commence with teams selected on Tuesday 24th February.
What if I don’t get selected?
If a player attends the SAP trials but is not offered a spot in a SAP team in 2026 we encourage them to still join our community team competition which plays in a similar format with games on Saturday but only 1 training a week.
Is there any extra training?
Yes, currently we are offering a SAP style training session for girls, held every Thursday 5pm.
There may also be an additional SAP style session open to all players held on Tuesdays after SAP training each week. This session would be an additional cost to the team registration fee allowing us to recruit a specialised coach.
Registering for Mini Roos, SAP and Juniors
Individuals register online for the age group that is relevant. PLEASE note we do not recommend kids younger than 5 are registered and we may contact you to cancel a registration if we believe there is any risk for your child during play.
Please register your child in the year they were born. This DOES NOT mean they will have to play in this age group. As in the past, some kids play up or down an age group to stay with team mates and this can continue in 2026, once all players are registered.
First in best dressed. Individuals who register before Feb 15 are guaranteed a spot in a team!
Once all registrations are completed teams will be compiled by the club.
When complete teams will be added to a WhatsApp group.
Teams MUST then nominate a parent or carer to coach their team.
Gear will be supplied to each team (training / playing shirts, balls, bibs) before the end of Term 1.
Mini Roos games commence in early April with the season ruining until the end of August
