Grounds

The Bangalow Bluedogs home ground is the Bangalow Sports Fields.

As the sports hub of our small community the Bangalow sports fields are also home to the Bangalow Cricket Club, Bangalow Rugby Club and Bangalow Netball Club.

The fields include the Jeff Schneider Field (JSF), our main senior field, Bang 2 and the Junior playing fields.

Weather

We understand the uncertainty that is created when it’s wet and you’re not sure if the grounds are open or closed. We live in a sub-tropical environment, and the reality is that it rains a LOT. Whilst we try to avoid cancelling games, the reality is that too much rain can cause damage to the fields that takes weeks to recover from impacting games further down the track as well. We received a lot of feedback last year regarding weather cancellations for both training and games. Whilst we cannot change the weather, we will be trying our best to improve the communication regarding field closures.

For weekend games the Club will decide as early as possible.

  1. A field inspection is undertaken on Friday and if it is decided that pitches are not fit to use, the club notifies FFNC who will inform all the away clubs, referees etc.
  2. If there is substantial rain on Friday night then another inspection will be done at 7.00am on Saturday morning
All updates will be posted on INSTAGRAM, Facebook AND via your team WhatsApp. It is the responsibility of coaches and parents to check these channels and notify teams accordingly.

Training changes or cancellations will ideally be made early on the day of training to ensure communication can be made to teams, parents and kids. However again please ensure you are checking for updates if it’s raining a lot on the day of training.

Some decisions regarding field closures are made via Byron Council and some in conjunction with the advice from Bangalow Soccer Club.

It is the responsibility of the away club to notify the nominated member of Bangalow SC of ground closures as soon as known. If this is on a Friday prior to 12pm then it is posted on the FFNC website and we will endeavour to put a message on the Juniors or Seniors Whatsapp or contact the coach directly. It is the responsibility of coaches to check for updates and notify the team.

For Mini Roos, games may not always be rescheduled as the season is already long and packed with additional Gala Days.

However, the club hopes to work with teams to schedule additional ‘game sessions’ on training days giving teams a chance to play either against other Bangalow Teams or a neighbouring club to make up for some lost games as they occur.

The Canteen

The clubhouse and canteen are managed and maintained by volunteers. Parents and Carers will be asked throughout the season to volunteer for a shift in the Canteen. Shifts will take place during Saturday game time and teams will be notified the week prior to supply names to the canteen manager.

Support your club

Club donations play a vital role in helping the Bangalow Bluedogs continue to operate and grow. As a small, community-run club, every contribution helps cover essential costs like equipment, ground hire, uniforms, and player development.
